Condition of the grounds:

All that was left of most buildings we investigated were just foundations with the exception of the warehouse where some of the walls were still standing. The area was grass covered which was high, due to the high amount of rainfall during the year, in all areas except the trails and around the warehouse. We were unable to gain access to all of the area due to high water levels and areas that were flooded.

Findings:

GOGPI was called to investigate the above location to see if we could document any paranormal activity on the site. Due to the conditions of the grounds from the above average rainfall for the year we were unable to cover all of the Skull Shoals area but we did cover a lot of the grounds.

The investigators had very little personal experiences, see below. We did not capture anything on video or in photos. We did record several EVP’s that could not be explained.

We feel that the location is not haunted and has some paranormal activity. With the personal experiences and the EVP’s recorded along with the rich history of the location we feel the potential is there for paranormal activity and with this being a preliminary investigation we suggest a follow up more intensive investigation of the entire site to see if we can document any activity.

Personal Experience summaries from investigators on the investigation:

Ed:
While out on our sweep I was standing at the supervisor’s house looking across at the warehouse when I saw a light to the left come straight down from what looked like the top of a tree all the way to the ground. It was bright white light. Also while packing up equipment in the parking lot I heard a voice and asked Gretchen, who was standing next to me, if she said anything and she said no. The voice sounded as if it came from her direction and no one else was near that area.

Beth:
No Psychic impressions other than the feeling of people/energy on the land. I could feel the bustling mill town as if it were active.
Personal Experiences. I heard the word “don’t” said in my ear when we were all together for dinner before the investigation. At the investigation I had no personal experiences.

Larry:
My only personal experience was while we were at the supervisor’s house I thought I heard what may have been the sound of drums.

Gretchen:
In the truck, Larry’s Mel meter came on without him turning it on.
At the superintendent’s house I was looking up to the warehouse, and something white passed up near the camera (human form) x2
At the end of the night we were packing up to go, I turned off my recorder, and I heard someone say, “Good Morning.” It was sweet- a male. And of course, I had just turned off my recorder.

Lisa:

I picked up on a potential drowning in the creek and at the site where part of the structure was still standing I got the name Richard Monroe (Munroe), not sure if that is first and middle name or if Monroe is the last name. I also picked up that he was in love with ‘Mary Elizabeth’.

Joyce:

I felt something happened on the property along the rut in the old road. Felt like someone may have been trampled by horses.

Heidi:

Do not pick up on anything.

What we hear:

  1. “I’ll give in” or “I’ll get it”
  2. “Dead” or “Dad”
  3. Footsteps
  4. A laugh
